Shopping My Own Closet

How often do you find yourself staring blankly into the opening of your closet and thinking, “Ugh. I have nothing to wear. Absolutely nothing. I think it’s time for some new clothes”? I was at a party a few months ago and found myself chatting with a fashionable interior design sales rep. She turned to me and said, “Sister! I need you to help me. I’d love for you to come over to my house and help me shop my own closet. I feel like a gal just needs a few good tops that she can mix and match into a lot of different outfits.”

I was smiling and nodding on the outside. But freaking out on the inside.

I’ve always seen myself as more of a 1-top = 1-2 outfits kind of girl. I struggle with mixing things up. Her words have stuck with me and are the inspiration for this video.

It’s time to shop my own closet – using one shirt and one pair of jeans.

The plaid flannel shirt featured here is from my first Golden Tote experience! Blog post on that coming soon.

Attention bloggers! If you create a response post (with photos or video) and do your own “Shopping My Own Closet” experience, shoot me a JPEG photo of you and the link to your post and I’ll add it to this page. You can email me here: alana (at) alanamokma (dot) com. Can’t wait to see what you found in your own closet. :)

If you don’t have a blog, I want to know what item in your closet you think you can use to create multiple outfits. Share in the comments below!

You are adorable and so good in front of the camera. Might need you to teach me some of your mad skills Love to see this lighter side of you. Now excuse me while I go look up the meaning of accessories —not my strongpoint either.

Terri, I’d love to help you with creating a video! :) I am just kind of learning as I go, but can teach you what I have figured out so far. Do you use a Mac? I think I mentioned this, but I’m using the iMovie software on my computer. Hopefully you have access to this. :)

RE accessories – Over the past year I have begun venturing into accessories. Mostly hats and scarves but I am slowly working my way into cardigans and jewelry too. :) It can definitely be overwhelming to figure out how to put the outfits together. Challenging myself with this exercise actually boosted my own confidence!
